The File Fabric Teams App extends Microsoft Teams collaboration to data outside of Microsoft 365 – Azure Blob Storage, Amazon S3, Azure Files, File Systems, and dozens of others.
London, July 14th 2021 – Storage Made Easy announced its Microsoft Teams App “File Fabric” is now available in the Teams store (AppSource).
The File Fabric Teams App extends Microsoft Teams collaboration to data outside of Microsoft 365 including Object Storage solutions such as Azure Blob Storage, Amazon S3, and also On-premises and Cloud based File Storage such as Azure Files, Amazon FSx, and many other storage solutions that support SMB file shares.
With the File Fabric Teams App users can upload, download, search, browse and share files and folders right from within Microsoft Teams. There’s a consistent integrated experience for them across Teams deskop, mobile and web applications, collaborating within their teams.
Some key features of the app include:
- Tabs: The File Fabric teams tab provides teams a shared view of their file and object storage services. Users can discuss, manage and work together with any corporate data directly within a channel. Individual users only see data they are authorized to see.
- Editing: Users can easily edit documents from within the app using Microsoft Office Online or use open files in desktop applications through the File Fabric’s unique Cloud Edit feature.
- Deep Links: Users can share links to specific files and folders within chat conversations and wiki pages. Clicking these links takes users to the specific location within the app.
- Personal App: Users can also add the File Fabric app to their own Teams workspace, allowing them to focus on their own tasks, accessing corporate storage for example from within Teams.
For Enterprise File Fabric enterprise customers, custom branded Teams apps can be easily created directly from the File Fabric and deployed across their Teams estate as a private Teams application.
Steven Sweeting, Director Product Management at Storage Made Easy, said: “The File Fabric Teams app has been one of our most requested features. The ability for teams to discuss, edit, and share corporate files so easily, and without having to upload copies to a third-party cloud, is a game changer”.
